100-Yr-Old WWII Vet Just Got Incredible Letter From The White House

Living to 100 is not a very common thing nowadays but for those that do, it is a big deal. Recently, one mans family didn’t know what to get their dad for his upcoming big birthday, so they asked him and his response might surprise you.
All Isaac “Ike” Fabela wanted for his birthday was to receive 100 birthday cards.

Little did his family know that his one simple request would happen and that it would change all of their lives forever. The cards and packages came pouring in and haven’t slowed down at all. He even received cards from people he would never have imagined.

According to the Daily Wire, Isaac “Ike” Fabela is a member of The Greatest Generation. And now a member of an even more exclusive club.

The Michigan native was born in 1918 and served in World War II from 1944 to 1946. He nearly saw action during D-Day — he was taken off a boat bound for Normandy on June 6, 1944, his 26th birthday, one of his eight daughters, Lolie, told Fox News.

On June 6 this year, Fabela said all he wanted for his 100th birthday was 100 birthday cards. Word got out and spread like wildfire — even actor Chris Pratt got involved.

On his birthday, and in the days after, Fabela received more than 50,000 cards. “It’s impossible not to read them. He does a lot of crying,” Lolie said of her father’s reaction. “He can’t believe what some of these people have written.”

But Fabela got one special card, and his wonderful reaction was posted on Facebook July 30. It didn’t get any play in the press, but here’s what happened.

The birthday cards and packages have not stopped piling in for Ike. He has received cards and packages from all over the world. Most of them are not just simple cards too. He has heard from many who were prisoners of war, POW, expressing their gratitude of how his service saved their lives.

He has also received many packages from military personnel and law enforcement officials have sent Fabela their medals, flags and even badges.

One of his biggest surprises was when he received a birthday card from the President of the United States and first lady. His family recorded his reaction to opening the card. It is wonderful to see the president reach out to people and express his appreciation for them even though he is extremely busy.
