Arrogant Pro Athlete Thinks He’s Above The Law After Being Busted In Disturbing Crime – ‘I Do What I Want’

We have heard far too many stories recently about the choices that many athletes have made that will affect their lives forever. These players are the examples that the children in America look up to, and they are setting terrible examples for them. From domestic abuse to threatening to kill innocent children, their choices are making more of a negative impact than they realize.

In the past when players committed a crime it remained very hush-hush and most just received a slap on the hands for their punishment. Recently, however, the leagues have been cracking down and becoming less complacent with players who commit crimes and chose not to represent their teams in a positive way.

One New England Patriot’s player is going to learn the hard way that his choices could affect his career and the rest of his life.

According to USA Today, New England Patriots safety Duron Harmon was arrested at Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaria International Airport for marijuana possession, according to reports.

Harmon was carrying in his suitcase 58 grams of marijuana inside a can of iced tea; three pipes with cannabis oil; one THC candy and four glass containers with compressed marijuana that weighed 4.3 grams, according to The Costa Rica Star and La Nacion.

The 27-year-old was detained temporarily and sent back to the United States. He had originally flown in from Florida’s Fort Lauderdale International Airport.

“This involved a professional NFL player, who tried to come into the country carrying marijuana,” director of the Fiscal Control Police Irving Malespin told The Costa Rica Star. “We have sent (him) back to US territory. It is important to highlight the work of different police bodies, who carry out important operations in different areas of the country. We want to prevent undesirable people from entering the country.”

The Patriots selected Harmon in the third round of the 2013 draft out of Rutgers. He has played in 79 games since then, recording 115 tackles and 11 interceptions. He had four interceptions and 23 tackles last year. Harmon recorded the lone interception in the Patriots’ Super Bowl LII loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“We are aware of the situation involving Duron Harmon Friday night in Costa Rica,” the Patriots said in a statement, via ESPN. “He has since returned to the U.S. and we are seeking to gain more information. At this time, we have no further update.”

Bill Belichick isn’t afraid to cut players so it will be interesting to see what actions they choose to make and if they do when will they do something about it. It might be the off-season but he should still represent his team and his sport on a daily basis.

These players need to be held to a higher standard, they are paid millions of dollars to simply play a game. The NFL should team up with the owners and create an off-field guideline as to how players act.  If they caught with drugs or charged with domestic abuse they should be kicked out of the league.
