Every day there are troubling reports surfacing of heinous crimes committed by illegal aliens. Most of them never make the news but it doesn’t make them any less a fact of life these days here in the United States. Many illegal aliens have been deported numerous times and their actual criminal records in foreign countries are never seen by Americans.
This is why background checks and vetting are so very important when allowing foreigners into the United States. Otherwise, we have no idea who we are letting in and if they are a criminal or not. By not vetting people, you allow entrance to not only good people but the worst of the worst, including terrorists and those who are guilty of the most villainous of crimes.
The latest example of this sad state of affairs occurred when U.S. officials arrested an illegal alien on multiple counts of rape. He was trying to gain entrance into the U.S. with a child he claimed was his daughter. He posed in a pic with the child pretending to be her father when instead he was a pedophile and she was his victim. A DHS official stated that Ramon Pedro, the illegal alien in question and the child he claimed as his daughter, were taken into custody at the Ysleta Port of Entry in Texas in mid-April.
Both Pedro and the child were hospitalized for tuberculosis testing in July. At that point, it was discovered that the girl was not his daughter and that Pedro had repeatedly sexually abused her. “In fact, the victim’s mother told her daughter to accompany Pedro to the United States and he would secure her employment,” a DHS official stated, adding that “on July 27, 2018, the Huron Police Department arrested him for multiple felony offenses for rape, oral copulation, forcible sexual penetration and endangering/causing injury to a child. He is currently detained in Fresno County Jail on a $310,000 bond.”
From The Washington Times:
“The horrifying case comes as the surge of families — and those portraying themselves as families in order to take advantage of immigration policies — has roiled the immigration debate.
“The number of families surged in recent years as smugglers figured out that adults could get more lenient treatment if they came with children in tow. While single adults are usually quickly deported, families were processed and released in the hope they would return to be deported later.
“Reasons for the quick release are complex, but a major factor both the Trump and Obama administrations pointed to was a 2015 ruling by a federal judge in California who said children couldn’t be kept longer than 20 days in detention. And since the children are generally supposed to be release to parents, the government figured it had to release the families together, giving them a chance to disappear into the shadows.
“At the time the Obama administration warned of bad consequences stemming from that decision, known as the Flores Settlement. One of those consequences, the government predicted, would be children getting abducted by people trying to falsely claim to be families.
“Indeed the number of such cases soared by 900 percent this year, according to a Washington Times report in May.
“In some cases, children were kidnapped, while other cases — such as the latest report involving Mr. Pedro — children were apparently loaned to other immigrants to further the family fraud.”
This is one of the main reasons that children have been separated from their parents when crossing the border. It’s imperative that authorities verify they are actually their parents and not their abusers. As a large number of Central American migrants arrive here in the U.S. with children in tow, authorities not only have to hold them for breaking the law by coming here illegally but ensure that the children are not victims of these child traffickers as well. Current U.S. law requires that authorities eventually release into the interior of the country any non-contiguous country illegal immigrant who claims asylum. At issue is what constitutes asylum which many of these illegal immigrants are trying to claim.
President Trump has done his level best to stop this wretched state of affairs by criminally prosecuting all illegal aliens at the border which resulted in some cases of separating families at the border. He eventually had to issue an executive order stopping the practice because of an overwhelming outcry from Americans who don’t seem to understand the danger they are now placing these children in. The practice started under George W. Bush and carried through Obama’s presidency. There was a good reason for it, but emotions were used to reverse the practice and the ones who will suffer here are the children at risk.
In fact, according to the Huffington Post, 80 percent of all women and girls who come across the border illegally are raped at one point or another by those providing passage to them. I don’t remember ever hearing that on CNN or on any other major network with the exception of Fox News. The little girl that was repeatedly sexually abused by this illegal immigrant is just one more sad case among many, many others. Where is the rage over their fate? The men and women of the Border Patrol and ICE are doing incredibly important work every single day and it’s their job to protect these children. They do an admirable job of it as far as they can. But when you politicize a situation such as this there are always going to be unintended consequences and in this case, it’s the children.
